Physical Gatherings Update

Posted Monday, September 7, 2020 at 2:41 PM

Plans are afoot to open our building for public gatherings on Sundays for a limited number of people.

Each Monday the online booking system will go live through the church app. In-person registrations will also be available at the church office for those without access to the internet. The church office will be open on Tuesdays, from 9:30am to 4pm.

In order to comply with our insurance and the Quebec Government guidelines for public buildings/places of worship and to ensure everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made significant changes to the way we normally use our building.

In an effort to prevent and curb the spread of COVID-19 our church supports the Track & Trace initiative. We therefore require contact details for all visitors prior to entry to the building. Visitors will not be able to attend without prior registration at this time. This information is needed solely in relation to COVID-19, in line with the prevention and safety recommendations from the Government of Quebec. We will preserve everyone’s privacy and will protect their personal information and will not use these details for any other purposes or pass them on to a third party.

Since the church building will only be available to a very limited number of people under the current restrictions, we will continue to broadcast all our services online every Sunday morning as usual. Our vision and desire is to enable the WHOLE congregation, without limits, to gather spiritually every Sunday, access teaching of God’s Word and participate in worship together without interruptions, either at home or in the church building. There are no ‘second class’ congregants at Lakeshore. We are ONE Church Family, as long as we gather together every Sunday, online or in person.

For those able and wishing to come to the live hosted Watch Party Service in our building, it is important to remember that this service will have a different feel and character to what most of us have experienced before church closure in March 2020. The initial gathering will have limited ‘live’ elements to the service, while the majority of the content will be the same as the service broadcast online.

At this moment in time there will NOT be nursery, youth or children’s church provided during the live service. We will keep you updated and will provide further details as soon as there are any changes. For the time being, children and young people in attendance will be the responsibility of their parents or guardians. To make the service enjoyable for everyone, we encourage you to provide an appropriate activity/engagement for young children who might struggle to remain focused during the service. Alternatively, there will be some activity bags provided for those in need of such resources.

As a church we must continue to pray and remember that the power of God is at work beyond the walls of the church building or the small number of people able to gather there. Our God is not restricted by social distancing or limited seating capacity, only by our openness to the work of His Holy Spirit. Let’s open wide our hearts and minds to His voice and power during these unprecedented times!

Thank you for your continued support, patience and cooperation as we navigate these complex logistics and make all efforts to keep you spiritually and physically well.
