Operation Christmas Child UPDATE

God changes lives!
And He is using Operation Christmas Child to do just that!

For the past 10 years we have, together, as a church, packed shoe boxes with gifts for children in various countries. Some of these children may never receive another gift in their lives
We fill these boxes with school supplies, clothing, toys and most importantly God’s love. Each child who receives a shoe box has the opportunity to attend a 12-week program called the Greatest Journey where they learn about Jesus and may make a decision to follow Him. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the project leader Audrey at [email protected]

  • The plant sale on June 1, 2025 was a success with plants donated from a variety of gardens. Volunteers from the Dorval Garden Club, Lakeshore Church and my neighborhood made it possible to prepare and price the plants. In terms of the now famous raffle, Fiona again donated two paintings, Gina donated one of her newly published cookbooks and Mona donated six birdhouses. In the end, we made $3200 that will help ensure we can send these children gifts that will allow them to experience God’s love.
  • As always, Shirley and Mary Anne have faithfully been sewing skirts, dolls, frisbees, hacky sacks, puppets, reusable sanitary supplies. June, Debbie and Shirley have been knitting / crocheting toys. Marie Kalus visited from Ottawa and dropped off many toothbrushes, pencils and toys.. So nice to have a short visit. So amazing to realize she is still collecting for our shoebox packing event this fall. Barbara Ann received a donation of 400 pencils. Suzanne has purchased 600 pencils. Susan and Janice delivered more supplies.
  • We received many supplies (felt for the puppets, strapping for the bags and sewing elastic for the skirts) thanks to Elliot’s generosity. Every time we ask God, He finds someone to provide what we need.
  • Elizabeth was able to donate more material which meant I was able to have a lovely visit with her and her husband.
  • God has knit together an incredible team that He uses for His purpose.

CURRENT NEEDS:

  1. Notebooks: as expected, the cost of these supplies is higher again this year. We need at least 300 notebooks. Bureau en gros has a special. The 80-page Hilroy spiral notebooks are 25 cents but one can only purchase 6 notebooks at the sale price. I spoke to a manager and once he heard about Operation Christmas Child, he allowed me the opportunity to purchase 60 at the reduced price. Please drop by your closest Bureau en gros and pick up some of the 25 cent notebooks.
  2. Erasers: we need one for each of the 500 pencil cases sewed by Shirley. Watch the flyers but right now best price is at Walmart for an online purchase….3 / 98 cents.
  3. Sharpeners: one for each of the 500 pencil cases.
  4. Pencils: we would like to send 6 pencils in each pencil case. We need 3000 pencils to meet this goal.  We have received some but we are still a long way from the goal.
